Semax Nootropic

Overview

Semax is a lab-made peptide first developed in Russia, built from a small piece of a hormone called ACTH. It’s studied mainly for its effects on the brain.

Research Context

Research suggests Semax boosts a brain chemical called BDNF, which supports the growth and health of brain cells — that’s the main reason it’s researched as a “nootropic,” a substance studied for cognitive effects. In a rat study looking at brain injury from reduced blood flow, Semax and a related fragment increased the growth of new brain and blood vessel cells during recovery.
